Help Me Protect Myself Against Bullies

March 11th, 2012

I hear this all the time: Help me protect myself against bullies. Or, more commonly: How can my son protect himself against bullies? A friend of a friend, whose son is in his first year at college, sent me part of an email he sent to a family friend last week.

“One kid is well-known around school as the campus bully. He seems to think he’s the most important guy on campus, and as a result, is well known for literally throwing his weight around against the other guys. He doesn’t hesitate to pick on other students, especially freshmen. He is my classmate in one of my science classes and had been looking to bully me in the past couple of weeks. I told my mom about this and she sent me a Runt stun gun. I had never heard of Runt stun guns, so I went online to find out more about them. I was happy to find out that it is a safe self-defense weapon that we helpless males can use when being picked on by punks. The Runt stun gun was the highest voltage stun gun that I found online. It’s got three voltage options – 2.5 million volts, 3.5 million volts and 4.5 million volts. When I use any on the bad guy, he should be incapacitated in a second or two. I learned that a stun gun, being a non-lethal weapon, would not severely hurt an aggressor. It will only incapacitate temporarily, leaving him debilitated for under an hour. The Runt stun gun is also compact enough for me to hide it in the palm of my hand. This small stun gun can be tucked easily into my pant pockets. The Runt that mom sent to me is also rechargeable, so I don’t have to worry about buying batteries. I just plug it into the wall once a week to make sure it is always ready to use.

I was carrying my Runt stun gun last Monday because I have had enough of the jerk who had been bothering me the past couple of weeks and I felt ready to protect myself against this bully. He had been trying to extort me and even threatened to hit me if I did not give in to his demands. When he saw me at the cafeteria, he resumed the extortion. I could sense that he was going to make good his menace and I reached into my pocket to turn the stun gun on. When he was about to hit me, I suddenly took out my high voltage stun gun and stuck it onto his shoulder. He screamed like a little girl and his face turned pale after a second of two of being hit by the stun gun and he dropped down to the floor. The other students around me cheered me on after I beat the notorious bully.”

I Can Protect Myself for Only $10 with a Personal Alarm

March 6th, 2012

“I can protect myself for only $10 with a Personal Alarm!” In many States, pepper spray is restricted (New York and Massachusetts) or partially restricted (Michigan and Wisconsin). Stun guns are even more restricted. If you can’t or don’t want to carry a gun for protection, what are your options? For many people, personal alarms are a simple, affordable and reliable form of self-defense. They are not considered weapons, of course, but they can go a long way toward helping you ward off an attacker. Since most criminals are looking for easy targets, any call to attention or distraction will quickly discourage them from following through with assaulting you or trying to steal from you. And in this regard, personal alarms fit the bill!

To make them even more useful, they come in different styles. For most who want to carry a personal alarm, the The Keychain Alarm with Light combines the two best deterrents against attack…a 130db alarm and a flashing light. The alarm is activated when the pin attached to the keychain is pulled, or by pressing the alarm button on the top of the unit. It can also be used as a flashlight without activating the alarm to provide additional night time safety. To make it an even better deal, two AAA batteries are included. Yes, you can protect yourself for only $10!

Do Stupid Criminals Just Lack Street Smarts?

February 28th, 2012

I think everybody loves “stupid criminal” stories. Stupid criminals come in all shapes and sizes, and commit, or at least try to commit, many types of crimes. So just for fun, I thought I’d share some stories about bumbling criminals who lack any kind of street smarts. Thanks to Michael Gravette of SafetyTechnology.com for these stories.

“According to the FBI, most modern-day bank robberies are ‘unsophisticated and unprofessional crimes’ committed by young male repeat offenders who apparently don’t know the first thing about their business. For instance, it is reported that in spite of the widespread use of surveillance cameras, 76% of bank robbers use no disguise, 86% never study the bank before robbing it, and 95% make no long-range plans for concealing the loot.”

The following advice is offered to bank robbing wanna-be’s and corresponding “don’t do’s.”

“1. Pick the right bank. …don’t follow the lead of the fellow in Anaheim, CA, who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in business and had no money. On the other hand, you don’t want to be too familiar with the bank. Another California robber ran into his mother while making his get-away. She turned him in.”

“2. Don’t sign your demand note. Demand notes have been written on the back of a subpoena issued in the name of a bank robber … on an envelope bearing the name and address of another … and on the back of a withdrawal slip giving the robber’s signature and account number.”

“3. Avoid being fussy. One robber gave a teller a note saying, ‘I have a gun. Give me all your twenties in this envelope.’ The teller said, ‘All I’ve got is two twenties.’ The robber took them and left. She had over $1,200 in her drawer that were not twenties, including hundreds and fifties.”

“4. Don’t advertise. A hold-up man thought that if he smeared mercury ointment on his face, it would make him invisible to the cameras. Actually, it accentuated his features, giving authorities a much clearer picture.”

“5. Make sure you know where you’re going. Avoid the sad fate of the thieves in Florida who took a wrong turn and ended up on the Homestead Air Force Base. They drove up to a military police guardhouse and, thinking it was a toll-booth, offered the security men money.”

“6. Provide your own transportation. It is not clever to ‘borrow’ the teller’s car, which she carefully described to police. This resulted in the most quickly-solved bank robbery in the history of Pittsfield, Mass.”

“7. Consider another line of work. There was the case of the hopeful criminal … who, when the teller told him she had no money, fainted. He was still unconscious when the police arrived.”

The moral of these stories is … regardless of which side of the law you operate, don’t be stupid. Always be safe and prepared. Use your street smarts. Don’t have street smarts? You can develop your self-defense fighting skills with fighting DVDs. One of my favorites is Fast and Furious Street Smarts by Jacov Bressler.

Do You Have an Emergency Tool in Your Automobile?

February 26th, 2012

Do you have an emergency tool in your automobile? With the advent of the cell phone, many people don’t think much about emergency automobile supplies and tools because they think they can always just call for help. But what if you become stranded somewhere without cell phone reception? Are you prepared in case a vehicle emergency occurs while you’re away from home? Growing up in States that had severe winters, my parents emphasized emergency preparedness when it came to my car. They made sure I had a “winter safety kit” that included a flashlight, emergency blankets, jumper cables, a rain coat or poncho, “fix-a-flat,” and the like. As an adult, I always remembered their advice and continue to make sure I keep the necessary supplies in my trunk.

But there was one thing I didn’t have then that I wouldn’t leave home without today: the "4 N 1 Auto Emergency Tool.” With four emergency functions in one, this automobile emergency tool is the most versatile on the market. The super bright flashlight can be used at night in any situation so you don’t have to carry an extra flashlight. The blinking emergency light activates automatically upon removal from its base to draw attention to your car in case it breaks down or you crash in an isolated area. If trapped inside your car and the windows won’t roll down, use the unit as a hammer to break the window for escape, or use the blade to cut the seat belt in case it jams as the result of a crash.

A snap-on base allows for fast removal in any emergency while the magnetic head keeps the unit handy when working on your car. The housing is water resistant. The “4 N 1″ is easy to install and requires no tools. It makes good sense to add such a simple, versatile tool to your emergency automobile kit.

The 4 N 1 Auto Emergency Tool includes: Super Bright Flashlight, Blinking Emergency Light, Window Escape Hammer, and Seat Belt Cutter. The tool is 7 inches long.

A Cell Phone Flashlight: Why Didn’t I Think of That?

A CELL PHONE FLASHLIGHT: WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?

These days, almost everyone has a cell phone. I say “almost” because my parents still don’t have one and I’m guessing that they aren’t the last two people on Earth without a cell phone, as hard as that is to believe sometimes. lol Everyone with a cell phone either carries it in their hand, has it attached to their belt, or keeps it in the front pocket of their purse or jeans. In other words, you always keep your cell phone handy, right? But how many people keep a flashlight handy?

Another question … have you ever been out after dark? Or been looking for your car in a dark parking lot or parking garage? Of course you have! Silly question. Or maybe you work a night-shift so are out and about after dark all the time. Perhaps you have thought from time-to-time that having some extra light might be handy, or might make you feel a bit more secure or safe while walking at night. In my case, especially as the days get shorter, I am often out in the woods hiking with my dogs as the sun goes down. And I often take my cell phone with me since I get good reception in certain parts of the woods and have been known to sit down on a rock somewhere and make a phone call or two. One year for Christmas, my younger brother gave me a headlamp to wear when I’m out with the dogs after dark, and I use it frequently, although sometimes I feel like I could use some extra light. But unless I’m wearing something with a lot of pockets, it’s rather inconvenient to carry a cell phone AND a flashlight. So when I came across a flashlight that you could easily attach to a cell phone, I thought, “Of course! Why didn’t I think of that?” And at less than $10, it was too inexpensive to NOT buy.

This handy, super-bright, go-anywhere LED CELL PHONE FLASH-LITE easily attaches to your cell phone. It’s so handy, you’ll find other uses for it, too. It’s great for your home, office, travel, and outdoor activities. It provides 6,000 hours of LED light … a lifetime of use, and is available in black or silver. It makes a great gift for students, family and friends.

Child Guard Panda Can Save Your Child From Going Missing

February 7th, 2012

The Child Guard Panda can save your child from going missing! Seems like children go missing in this country every week … don’t let this happen to your child! I’ve written a blog post previously (July 7, 2010) about the Child Guard Panda and how it can save your child from going missing. But in light of such continuing tragedies, I thought it was appropriate to write another.

No parent should ever have to experience the horror of realizing that your child is missing. You can easily save your child from wandering away and even from being abducted for less than $30.00.

Protect Your Child From Going Missing

Simply place the Child Guard Panda on your child’s wrist. Kids enjoy wearing the cartoon animal-shaped transmitter, which sends a constant signal to the receiver, which is held by you, the parent. It comes with a keychain ring and a clasp so you can easily attach it to your keychain if you are out and about, or to your belt loop if you’re around the house. The signal is adjustable – from a distance of 6 to 30 feet, so when your child goes beyond the set distance, your receiver starts to beep, letting you know that your child is starting to wander off. Please protect your child or your children from becoming a statistic. Save yourself the horror and misery that comes from not knowing where your child is and whether he or she will ever be found.

This is a no-brainer. Keep your kids safe and under your control by clicking HERE. It will take you to the page where you can purchase the Child Guard Panda.

Is Mace Pepper Gel Better Than Pepper Spray?

Is Mace Pepper Gel Better Than Pepper Spray?

(Mace Pepper Gel, large unit)

Mace 10% Pepper Gel IS different than conventional pepper sprays or pepper foggers. Mace Pepper Gel is a patent-pending formulation of pepper spray that is suspended in a sticky gel rather than a liquid stream. This provides a few advantages for your self-protection: pepper gel sprays up to 10 feet further than conventional sprays (up to 18 feet) and sticks to your attacker’s face like glue, causing temporary blindness. Because of its sticky nature, pepper gel won’t blow back into your face, which makes it ideal for outdoor or indoor use–add it to your plan for home and family protection by keeping a canister next to your bed.

Mace Pepper Gel is more concentrated and is therefore hotter than many other pepper sprays on the market, but is non-toxic and causes only temporary impairment. As an added benefit, it contains a UV dye to invisibly mark an assailant for identification by police.

Mace Brand 10% Pepper Gel Large Model contains 45 grams and sprays 7 short bursts with an effective range up to 18 feet. The canister has a flip-top safety cap that prevents accidental discharge. Click HERE to purchase the Large Model 45 gram canister of pepper gel.

It is also available in a larger 79 gram Magnum Model

Intellispy Computer Tracking Software -- Arm Yourself Against Internet Predators!

How can you protect your children from internet predators? How can you be sure that your kids are staying away from websites where they may come into contact with predators and pedophiles who could seduce them into meeting face-to-face so that they can have sex with your children? Would you know if your son or daughter was in contact with an online sexual predator? Consider the following scenario:

You walk into your 13-year-old’s bedroom and she quickly closes the lid of her laptop computer. Lately, she has been spending hours on-line at night and on the weekends. You’ve also noticed she has become more withdrawn from your family and no longer wants to spend time with her older siblings. And then yesterday, she received a package in the mail from an address you didn’t recognize. When you asked your daughter what it was, you got a strong feeling that she lied about it. What’s going on? Is this normal pre-teen or teenage behavior?

Learn more about this vital issue and the steps you can take to protect your children from internet predators. Read my article on Yahoo’s Associated Content by clicking HERE. It may very well save your son or daughter from becoming a victim of sexual assault. It could even save your child’s life.

Protect Your Dog or Cat With a Pet Safety Light

February 1st, 2012

I love dogs! They are my passion and, to be unabashedly honest, they are the center of my life. I have five canines that were rescued from one bad situation or another: one I rescued as a wee pup from certain death along Interstate 70; another was wandering around a busy rural highway, malnourished and in-heat; a third was a just-weaned puppy who wandered into where I was working; my German Shepherd-mix was sadly neglected by her owners and was slowly starving to death; and the 5th was a stray who I volunteered to foster for a few days . . . almost 4 years ago. I never set out to acquire a pack of dogs. It just happened that way, and since I live in a rural area with a large fenced yard, I am able to provide a loving, stable home. Their health, safety and happiness is a priority.

Living in the country, I am always aware of the plight of the stray and the neglected. Dogs are often dumped in rural areas, the ignorant who leave them behind perhaps believing that dogs are able to fend for themselves in the wild, like their wild cousins, the fox, coyote, and wolf. Sadly, dogs are too domesticated to survive for very long on their own. Too many people neglect to spay and neuter their pets and we are left with millions of unwanted pets crowding our local shelters or facing starvation, exposure, predation, or death by auto as strays.

One small and FREE thing we can all do to protect dogs and cats is make a daily visit to The Animal Rescue Site.com. On the home page, just by clicking on the big purple button, you can donate food to animal shelters, again, it’s FREE. But there is a lot more to this website. In addition to just clicking, you can buy any number of products and each purchase includes a donation of food to animal shelters. The merchandise is quality stuff and is very fairly priced. And, no, they don’t gouge you with shipping and handling charges. The most I’ve ever paid is $2.99 (for any size order) and they often have free shipping offers or $1.00 shipping offers. And you don’t have to be an animal lover to shop on The Animal Rescue Site. Many of their gifts are not dog- or cat-themed. There are too many categories to list here, so go check it out! Buy a birthday present for your girlfriend, do some early Christmas shopping, buy Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts . . . make your shopping count for something.

Something else you can do to protect your dog or cat (or your friends’ and family members’ pets) is to make sure they can be seen at night when they are outside with a Pet Blinkie. Pet Blinkies are vibrant, multi-color pet safety lights that attach easily to a collar, leash or harness. They are waterproof and visible up to 1/2 mile away and are available in 6 blinking, vibrant colors. If you love your pet, get them a Pet Blinkie!

Now go and hug your pet!

Buy a Pepper Shot Tri-Pack for Your Personal Safety

January 31st, 2012

Should you buy a Pepper Shot Tri-Pack for your personal safety? Knowing I have a website that sells self-defense and personal security products, people often ask me what they should get for their own personal safety. For almost everyone, I suggest that one thing they buy and keep handy at all times is pepper spray. Even better, we should all keep pepper spray available for use in our automobiles, in our homes and on our persons. Toward this end, the Pepper Shot Tri-Pack is a great choice. It contains three canisters of pepper spray: one in an automobile visor clip for your car, van or truck; a second with a quick-release keychain to carry with you everywhere you go; and a third, larger wall-mount canister for your home and family protection. The following story illustrates the importance of being prepared for when you least expect trouble.

Kim had just accepted a big promotion, which meant a bigger paycheck, but a longer commute. Fortunately, she lived in the outskirts of the city and commuted into the suburbs for work, so she didn’t get stuck in the crazy traffic that some of her friends had to endure every day. One morning, she had to get up extra early to get ready for an important presentation. Rolling down a country road at over seventy miles per hour, she noticed red flashing lights in her rear-view mirror.

“Ugh!” she grunted. “Two weeks into this job and I’m already getting a speeding ticket.”

Still too early for many of the gas stations to be open, she pulled over into a lighted space on the side of the road. Under the lights, she noticed the police car was unmarked. A man got out of the vehicle and walked toward her car. She rolled down the window a little bit as he approached, but only enough to reach her hand through to hand him her driver’s license.

“Good morning, ma’am,” he said. “Do you know how fast you were driving through that forty-five mile an hour zone?” Kim squinted her eyes and said, “I’m sorry, officer, but I don’t honestly know. How fast was I going?”

“Let’s not worry about that just yet,” he said. “I’ll need you to step out of the car, please, ma’am.”

Kim thought it was strange that he hadn’t asked for her license or proof of insurance. And when she took a longer look at him, she noticed he wasn’t wearing a uniform.

“Officer, could I see your identification, please?” she asked. “Ma’am, I am ordering you to get out of this car RIGHT NOW,” he demanded.

Kim now noticed that he looked way too unkempt to be a real police officer. At the same moment, the man tried to reach in through Kim’s car window. She reached up and pulled down her emergency canister of pepper spray attached to the automobile’s visor with a simple clip. Aiming right through the crack in the window, Kim shot her attacker right in the eyes. He screamed and tried to rub the stinging defense spray from his face. As he stumbled into the road, she started up her car and sped up the highway. She found an open convenience store a few miles up the road, where she called the police.

Real police officers found her attacker stumbling through the woods not far from where Kim left him. It turned out he had been preying on women in the early morning hours for months, but hadn’t been caught. Kim not only saved herself, she helped get a dangerous man off the streets and in jail.

You can get pepper spray in the same convenient automobile visor clip that Kim used as part of our PEPPER SHOT TRI-PACK. The Tri-Pack also includes a large wall-mounted canister for home protection and a personal-safety canister on a quick-release keychain.

To purchase your own Pepper Shot Tri-Pack, please CLICK HERE. Concerned about having to pay high shipping charges? No worries! Safe & Sound Security Products now offers lower-cost shipping options. Many customers can get the Tri-Pack shipped to their home via USPS for as low as $3.24!
